A well-dressed motorist was stopped and arrested by police in the parking lot of a North Main Street drug store Wednesday morning after they learned he was in town. They searched him out on charges that included altering his pay checks from a Manteca business last October and a no bail warrant for a vandalism conviction.

Ronald Vernon Koneig, 21, was driving on North Main Street shortly before 9 a.m. when he was located by Manteca Police Sergeant Ralph Colin who made the traffic stop.  Officers said they found shotgun shells, a small amount of methamphetamine, and possession of a drug pipe adding that Koneig also gave them a false name.  Officers said he failed to show up in court several times as the basis for the warrant.

Officers said he had visited his former employer in the 800 block of North Main Street that morning to pick up his W-2 form to do his taxes.
