A man was shot in the face on Saturday after accompanying a woman back to her house to get belongings following a fight with her husband.

Robert Arellano, 28, was arrested on charges of assault with a firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm and possession of an assault rifle after he allegedly he shot the man that had come back to his house with his wife in the face with a shotgun.

According to the police report, the woman, an unidentified man and another person returned to the house following an argument. When the victim heard a knock on the kitchen window he walked up to take a closer look and that’s when police believe Arellano pulled the trigger on the shotgun.

The man sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Arellano admitted to police that he fired the shotgun and shot the man but said he feared for his safety and was unsure who was outside of his residence. The shotgun as well as other firearms were taken for safekeeping.
