Manteca Police arrest two men after finding guns and marijuauna
Parolee-No-1
Manteca officer Aaron Montoya inspects one of two semi-automatic weapons that he confiscated in an early morning Thursday car stop on the freeway at Airport Way.

An early Thursday morning traffic stop by Manteca Police yielded one parolee, another man on searchable probation, with two guns, ammunition, burglary tools, plastic gloves, drugs and binoculars that sent both men to jail.

Officer Aaron Montoya made the stop on Highway 120 near Airport Way at about 2:30 a.m.  He was soon backed up by officers Mark Rangel and Kirk Doty, according to police spokesman officer Jason Hensley.

Arrested were Arturo Cordova, 36, and Romero Dutra, 32, both of Manteca. They were both charged with possession of marijuana and methamphetamine, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and transportation of a controlled substance as well as conspiracy to commit a crime, police said.

One gun was a .32 caliber semi-automatic and the second was a .45 caliber replica of a semi-automatic but actually a pellet gun.   Both men were both transported to San Joaquin County Jail where Dutra is being held in lieu of $186,000 each.  Cordova was charged with violating his parole and is being held without bail.

The two men are scheduled to appear in the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6.
