Manteca Police are increasing neighborhood patrols this week hoping to discourage a further rise in daytime home burglaries during the current holiday season.

On Monday alone there were four Manteca homes robbed of valuables prior to 2 p.m.   In one incident a 1997 Kawasaki motorcycle cruiser was reported stolen from a home in the 1000 block of Zurich Drive near Louise Avenue.

Among the other items taken from the residence was a large 50-inch flat screen television.  Officers have been searching for an older white van in their patrols of the residential areas over the last three days.  A van deemed as being suspicious by residents Wednesday morning that had been occupied and parked on Powers Avenue near Trinity Avenue was not located by officers who responded within minutes of the call.

Earlier Monday afternoon, other residents reported their homes had been burglarized in the 1100 block of East North Street.  An auto burglary was subsequently reported at about the same time in the 200 block of North Main Street.

A Wawona Street caller reported another home burglary in the 1100 block shortly after 8 p.m.

Just before 9 p.m. a woman called police to report her residence had been broken into in the 100 block of East Edison Street.

Also on Monday a woman caller reported her vehicle had been stolen from the 1800 block of North Main Street.   Theft of auto parts and accessories reportedly occurred in the 200 block of Diane Court that same day.

Residents in the 400 block of Cowell Avenue discovered their home had been entered when they returned about 8 p.m. Sunday night with another auto burglary being reported to police half an hour later in the 1200 block of East Yosemite Avenue.

On Saturday there was one more residential burglary reported at 10:30 p.m. with two auto burglaries having occurred in the mid-afternoon hours in the 1300 block of Bass Pro Drive.  Also on Saturday there was an auto burglary that occurred in the 100 block of Whelan Way.

Friday saw reports of three additional auto burglaries.  One was in the 1600 block of Northgate Drive, another in the 800 block of East Atherton Drive and the third occurred in the 400 block of Martha Street.

On Wednesday the theft of auto parts in the 800 block of Cambridge Way was reported to police at 8:30 in the morning.
