Lathrop-Manteca Fire Department inspector Jeffrey Scialabba, 29, was arrested while on duty Tuesday morning while driving a fire department utility vehicle and charged with possession of a small amount of methamphetamine, transportation of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Manteca Police patrolman Ian Osborn said he first saw Scialabba run a stop sign at the corner of Eucalyptus and Sun West Place while the public employee was talking on a cell phone shortly before 11 a.m.  The final location of his traffic stop was at Center Street and Union Road.

Osborn said that after he made the stop he observed the methamphetamine inside the Lathrop-Manteca fire vehicle.  The fire inspector was reportedly cited out at the police department for the felony drug charges and released with the promise to appear in court at a later date.
