Two guns and methamphetamine were taken off the street Tuesday by members of the Manteca Police Street Crimes Unit (SCU) and State Parole.

A parole-at-large and documented gang member Baltazar Alcazar was located by officers after a stakeout in the 1500 block of Linden Lane on Tuesday.  The 30-year-old Mantecan also had a warrant out for his arrest, police said.

SCU spotted him leaving his residence and took him into custody reportedly finding methamphetamine and illegally possessed prescription pills, drug sales equipment and two loaded firearms in his possession upon his arrest.

Police spokesman Officer Jason Hensley said that one of the firearms had been stolen during a Manteca residential burglary earlier in the year.

He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail charged with possession of methamphetamine for sale, participation in a criminal street gang, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, for being a gang member in possession of a loaded firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a concealed weapon and with a gang enhancement for the possession of a loaded firearm.

A second documented criminal street gang member was taken out of the Rose Motel in the 300 block of Moffat Boulevard Tuesday on an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  James Newman, 18, of Manteca was taken into custody without incident, police said.  On a search of his motel room, Manteca officers allegedly found methamphetamine and drug sales equipment along with gang paraphernalia, the officer said.

Newman was booked into San Joaquin County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine for sale and for participation in a criminal street gang.
