Two police SWAT raids on Manteca homes early Thursday morning netted 20 pounds of methamphetamine valued at $500,000 or more depending on the purity of the product.

The pair of residences targeted in the search warrants were in the 300 block of Poplar Avenue and in the 600 block of Stewart Street.  Police said no one was found at home at either location.

The Manteca/Ripon SWAT team found the Poplar address to be a clandestine drug lab after entering the structure.  Detectives laid out the plastic baggies filled with meth on the trunk of a vehicle at the scene.

The San Joaquin METRO Narcotics Task Force contacted the Manteca Police Department Street Crimes Unit to assist in the narcotics investigation, according to MPD spokesman Jason Hensley.

METRO had been following up on leads resulting from an FBI-led Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force case.  That investigation involved not only the FBI, but also the Solano County Safe Streets Task Force, the Vacaville Police Department Narcotic Enforcement Team and the California Highway Patrol and Drug Enforcement Agency.

Officer Hensley said the investigation is continuing and METRO is handling the meth lab hazmat cleanup of the house involved.
