(Manteca, CA) On 10/31/2011, at approximately 6:13pm, Manteca Police were called to a residence in the 800 Block of Golden Pond Dr to conduct a welfare check on a female resident. They arrived and found a female victim, in her 50’s, deceased inside the home. An initial investigation showed the victim did not die from natural causes. MPD Detectives were called to the scene and initiated a homicide investigation.

Kathleen McGehee was found in her home deceased. Cause of death is also not being released at this time.

On November 1, 2011 at about 1:25am Manteca Police Officers arrested Dawson McGehee for the murder of Kathleen McGehee. Dawson is Kathleen’s son and lived in the Golden Pond Dr residence with her.

Manteca Police Detectives indicated that after obtaining statements from family, witnesses and processing the evidence on scene they had enough cause to arrest Dawson for the murder. Officers located Dawson as he was driving his 1997 Nissan Altima near the intersection of N. Main St and Louise Ave. He was taken into custody without incident.

Dawson was transported to the Manteca Police Department where he was interviewed by Detectives and later booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on charges of murder, 187PC. Bail has not been set. Detective Miller is the lead investigator handling this case.

Since this is a continuing investigation, no other information about the homicide can be released at this time.
