A Manteca man, Geoffrey Allen, 50, who attempted to evade Manteca Police officer Dan Chestnut at 1:30 a.m. Friday was tazed by the officer following a police chase through city streets.
Chestnut gave chase of a white sports utility vehicle after the driver refused to stop for the officer’s red lights and siren. The pursuit ended in the 800 block of Buchanan Lane where the man got out of his car and ran into a back yard.
Chestnut and Officer Jason Bonetti struggled with the man as he attempted to enter a sliding glass door at the rear of the home – eventually having to use a tazer on the suspect. They were unaware that he was attempting to get into his own home.
Allen was reportedly on parole – a parole status that was violated by the pursuit and being charged with driving under the influence. He was also charged with driving on the wrong side of the street and operating a vehicle with his driver’s license suspended.
