Criminals are preying on unsuspecting Manteca residents by selling fake magazine subscriptions.

A suspect on Thursday, Oct. 27, approached the victim in the Target parking lot. He said he was with Delta College and was selling magazines to gain points. He sold the victim over a dozen magazines for about $30 each. The victim then obtained $520 from her ATM and gave it to the suspect. After the subscription company did not call, the victim became suspicious. The victim was informed they had been scammed.

The subject is described as a black male adult. He is about 30 years old, 6-foot to 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, short/balding hair, and has miscellaneous tattoos on his arms and hands. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue jean pants. It appears that it is occurring throughout several cities in San Joaquin County. Delta College Police has also had similar cases.
