RIPON — A Craigslist posting by a 22-year-old Ripon man led to his arrest for attempting to sell stolen property online and for the possession of cocaine and heroin for sale.
Ripon Police spokesman First Sergeant Steve Merchant said the incident developed about 8 p.m. Monday when a dispatcher received a call from a theft victim saying he was enroute to meet with the subjects who were in possession of his missing property.
As Officer Erik Boger arrived on the scene to investigate the alleged theft, a suspect was observed taking customized stereo components out of his vehicle. The victim confirmed that the electronic items were those that had been stolen from his car that he had already reported to authorities.
Sgt. Merchant said that Alfred Vincent Saldana, III, 22, of Ripon was taken into custody. He was charged with possession of some 30 grams of cocaine along with small amounts of heroin and marijuana, controlled substance paraphernalia, a digital scale and a large amount of cash, and possession of stolen property.
Saldana was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp on multiple felony charges with bail set at $239,000.
