LATHROP - Robert David Stockton, 23, was arrested outside the Save Mart store in the 15200 block of Harlan Road in Lathrop after allegedly stealing merchandise and repeatedly kicking a security officer in the head following a parking lot struggle.

According to the report, the man began loading up a shopping cart with alcoholic beverages and continued throughout the store loading more items into the cart – frozen foods, meat and trash can liners.

Witnesses said he then went back to the liquor aisle and loaded more hard alcohol into his shopping cart before leaving the store.  Once outside he was confronted by store security.  Stockton reportedly resisted during the struggle and the combatants fell to the ground until deputies arrived.

Stockton was arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on charges of burglary and battery with serious injury.  His initial bail was set at $100,000 with $20,000 added for a warrant that included a failure to appear in court.
