Thieves strike model homes

Thieves went shopping in Summit Collection at Union Ranch homes for kitchen appliances early Saturday morning and were interrupted by an alarm and by new residents who were about to move in, Manteca Police said.

There has been an average of two home burglaries every day according to Sgt. Jody Estarziau, who is urging neighbors to pay attention to the homes in their neighborhoods – especially during the week days when many of the break-ins occur.

Officers were first called out to a model home in the 1100 block of Green Abbey about 5:30 a.m. where they used a police canine to search the house.   They found the kitchen appliances that had been moved to the area of the front door where the suspects were believed to be picking them up.

A second call was received by a police dispatcher a short time later – just around the corner – in the 2400 block of Edgebrook where the kitchen appliances had been moved from the house into the garage.
