Three arrests in pharmacy robbery

A witness’ description helped Manteca Police catch and capture three juveniles believed to have been responsible for robbing the CVS Pharmacy on North Main Street Monday afternoon.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Manteca Police dispatch received a call of a robbery in progress after three men wearing hoodies and armed with a handgun jumped the counter and ordered three pharmacy employees to the ground. They then reportedly took unidentified prescription medication, left the store and jumped into a white Oldsmobile Cutlass that had paper placed over the license plates so that the number couldn’t be identified.

When an officer arrived on scene, a witness was able to point out the vehicle and the officer gave chase – pursuing the car north of Manteca near the area of Union and French Camp roads where the suspects then lost control of the car and the vehicle overturned.

They were then apprehended and after they were medically cleared were transported to the San Joaquin juvenile justice detention center where they were charged with robbery, possession of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading and exhibiting a firearm in a threatening manner.

Stolen prescription medication presumed to have been taken from CVS was recovered from the overturned car.
