RIPON — A Stockton woman and a man from Lodi were arrested Tuesday morning in Ripon for possession of methamphetamine for sale with a value of over $1,600 as well as conspiracy after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign.
Ripon Police patrolman Scott Lindsay said he followed the couple from Stockton and Milgeo avenues after seeing the ‘90s Chevy Blazer with a cracked windshield continue toward the edge of town.
Lindsay pursued the vehicle up North Ripon Road where it turned left onto Shasta Avenue and the driver yielded to his emergency lights and siren. Passenger Manuel Ordonez, 30, was reportedly on searchable parole for a prior drug conviction which allowed police to check for drugs in the car.
Officers placed Ordonez in the patrol car, and ordered driver Rebecca Pfeil, 31, of Stockton to sit on the curbing while they searched her vehicle where they discovered over an ounce of crystal methamphetamine, a crank pipe, drug scale and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Both suspects, who had been staying at a motel on the Highway 99 Frontage Road, were charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of a drug scale, a crank pipe and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Pfeil was also charged with delaying a police officer, giving false information to the officer, driving on a suspended license and having an unregistered vehicle.
Canine officer Gordon West was dispatched to the scene with his drug dog Topper who performed an exhaustive search, but was unable to find more drugs in the vehicle.
Ordonez was held without bail because he was in violation of state parole. Pfeil’s bail was set at $124,889, and they were both transported to San Joaquin County Jail. They are both scheduled to appear in the Manteca Branch of San Joaquin County Superior Court on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
