Sukwinder Singh

A Washington State trucking student is missing in the Lathrop area and the Lathrop Police Services are asking for the public's help in finding Sukwinder Singh, 22, who was last seen on De Lima Road in Lathrop on October 8 at about 7 p.m.

Singh had reportedly intended to take instruction at the Dasmesh Truck Driving School in the 200 block of Dos Ries Road located near the I-5 Freeway. A friend, Joe Grewal, said Wednesday morning that Singh had come to Lathrop with a buddy from the north state in his 18-wheeler. He noted that after the driver had dropped of his load, he headed back to Washington.

A spokesman at the school said that he had only talked to Singh on the phone and had never seen him, adding that he had dropped his bag off at a house used to bunk student drivers, left and had not returned. Grewal also said that Singh had gone to Turlock to visit a relative returning to Lathrop on that Saturday.

Lathrop detectives have been in contact with Washington State Police to determine whether the man had returned home. He had not, according to Sheriff's spokesman Les Garcia. Singh is described as being 6-foot-tall, weighing about 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Lathrop Police Services at (209) 468-4400 or "Text a Tip" to 274637 and in the message type SJSO, after a space, then your tip.
