FRENCH CAMP — Two vehicles were torched in French Camp in the early morning hours Saturday and Sunday, according to Paul Tualla, assistant fire chief of the French Camp McKinley Fire District.

At about 3 a.m. Saturday firefighters were dispatched to the first vehicle fire in the 8700 block of Priest Road where a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck was found in flames.  After the fire was extinguished firemen reportedly found evidence that the fire had been intentionally set.  Loss was reportedly set at $2,000.

On Sunday morning at 1 a.m. fire units were dispatched to another vehicle fire finding a BMW 328IS completely involved in flames.  Chief Tualla said it had not been determined if the second fire was arson or whether it had been connected to Saturday’s fire.  That car was said to be completely totaled.

The investigation into both fires is continuing by the French Camp Fire District Fire Investigations Union and the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.  Anyone with information about the fires is asked to contact investigator Paul Tualla at (209) 982-0592.
