Two young women in their early 20s were reportedly carjacked shortly after 1 a.m. Friday in the 200 block of Elm Avenue north of West Center Street.

Manteca Police said the women had stopped at an apartment complex where the passenger got out of their blue, 1996 Honda Civic. She walked toward a residence only to be met by a suspect with a gun wrapped in a red bandana who ordered her back into the car.

Described as either an Asian or Hispanic with gauges stretching his ear lobes, he got into the back seat of the car behind the driver and ordered her to drive.  Officers said the vehicle was driven around the community until the man, said to be 25 to 30 years old told the driver to stop and allowed the driver and passenger out of the car at the intersection of Pierce and Manteca avenues.

The victims said they ran to the 133 Club on Yosemite Avenue and called police noting that they had watched their car being driven westbound on Yosemite Avenue and turning south onto Willow Avenue.

Officers Eddie Cardenas and Aaron Montoya were told that the suspect stood about 5-foot-8 and was of a chunky build, with short dark hair, and wearing a black baseball-styled cap.

The vehicle license number is 4XVG782.  Police are asking anyone with information on the gunman to call Crime Stoppers at 823-4636.
