Woman sexually assaulted by man impersonating a police officer

A sexual assault by a man impersonating a police officer occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of Sequoia Avenue, according to Manteca Police spokesman Officer Jason Hensley.

The victim told officers that the suspect had her follow him as he drove his vehicle a short way to a more secluded area.  Following his instructions, she reportedly followed him and was assaulted.

The suspect is described as a white male adult about 25 years old, 140 to 160 pounds and standing 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 in height. He was wearing a dark blue jacket with white stripes on the sleeves and chest.  He had dark hair that was short on the sides with a ponytail at the neck.

The vehicle description was a gray, mid-sized car with chrome rims and tinted windows.

Anyone with information on the suspect or on the incident is urged to call the Manteca Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 823-4636 where they may remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
