Woman throws hammer, injures boyfriend

LATHROP – A Lathrop woman was arrested and is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon after throwing a small hammer at her on-and-off boyfriend injuring him in the forehead.

Sheriff’s deputies of the Lathrop Police Services were sent to the 15000 block of Warfield Road for a report about a domestic violence incident. When police arrived at the scene, they learned that the victim and Ruth Marquez, a 43-year-old Hispanic, had gotten into a verbal argument which escalated and led to the unidentified victim sustaining an injury to the left side of his forehead. According to the police, Marquez and the male victim have been in an on-and-off dating relationship for six years.

Marquez was transported and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp on charges of assault with a deadly weapon as well as for inflicting injury on a current or former spouse, cohabitant or co-parent.
