RIPON — Ripon’s Immanuel Christian Reformed Church is a scheduled rest stop for “Tractor Dave” who is driving his 1937 COOP #2 tractor across country to raise $200,000 for disaster relief as he pulls a 20-foot trailer.

Pulling onto the nation’s highways June 1, Dave Wolfsen is scheduled to pull into Ripon July 13 and park overnight in the church parking lot where the church will be hosting a barbecue that is going to be open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m.

His 9,300-mile trek is expected to take 75 days through 48 states with two noble causes by one determined man, according to his Facebook posting. His website is www.tractorRideAcrossUS.org. And his e-mail is tractordave@rocketmail.com.  He can also be followed on Facebook at Tractor Dave Crosses America.

Gert Vos of the Immanuel Church said that Wolfsen will be sharing his experiences with Riponites and she hopes to include an antique tractor and classic car show to coincide with his visit.

The cross country tractor challenge is to benefit the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee Disaster Response Services and the Food Resource Bank for tornado victims.
