Gaspare Indelicato — who immigrated from Sicily to America to start Delicato Vineyards in Manteca  more than 85 years ago — would have been proud.
Wine produced by his sons as well as their sons and daughters was served as part of President Donald Trump’s inauguration luncheon on Jan. 20.
Bottles of 2012 Black Stallion Cabernet were served at the White House Presidential Inauguration luncheon after Trump requested California wines over his Trump variety. Delicato Family Vineyard’s Black Stallion Winery label was picked with the help of the Wine Institute in San Francisco.
There were more than 100 cases sent back to the inauguration luncheon.  The Black Stallion was priced at $60 a bottle and was a product of the Delicato owned Black Stallion Winery in the Napa Valley. There is presently none available at the Manteca wine tasting room. The wine must be ordered.
The menu of the three course meal read:”The second course of Seven Hills Angus beef with dark chocolate and juniper jus and potato gratin, will be paired with Black Stallion Estate Winery 2012 Limited Release Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a winery owned by Delicato Family Vineyards.”
President and CEO of Delicato, Chris Indelicato approved the paring saying, “It’s an expressive bold red wine and this wine can stand up perfectly to the meat course of this high-profile lunch.  We feel it’s a testament to the quality of the wine and reflective of the wines of California which is why the Wine Institute recommended it for the tasting prior to the election.”
Dorothy Indelicato confirmed Monday that the 140 cases had been left in the warehouse after Jan. 20 had been weaned down to about 25 since the news of its White House selection was released.  She said she had ordered a case for herself that she plans for use in the Manteca community during the coming year. 
She said the winery staffers and family members in Manteca were totally ecstatic over the selection with a clearly festive mood in Manteca over the selection.
Black Stallion Estate Winery in July 2007 became the latest addition to the prestigious collection of wineries in the Napa Valley. Named for a historic equestrian center, the indoor track now houses winemaking production and remnants of the original 36 horse stalls are still visible today.
