Delicato seeks photo entries

Delicato Vineyards is holding its Thirteenth Annual Photography Show from Wednesday, July 1 through Saturday, July 25. Competition is open to entries by amateur and professional photographers, which will be judged jointly. There will be over $1,000 in cash and gift certificate awards presented to the winners for their original photographs in the following categories: landscape/ nature, people/ portrait, travel/ architecture, animals, Manteca scenes, and other.

Photographers are encouraged to participate by phoning, faxing or E-mailing for an entry blank. The application is also available at www.dfvwines.com/Company/ContactUs/TastingRoom. Five pieces per photographer may be mailed with their entry fee or brought to the Delicato Tasting Room between Wednesday, June 10 and Friday, June 19. The public is invited to attend the awards ceremony on Saturday, July 25 at 2 p.m.

The judge this year is Dr. Lloyd Bever of Merced. Bever, a Fellow of the Photographic Society of America, has been photographing for nearly 54 years since buying his first camera, an Angus C-4, in 1955. He became a member of the Photographic Society of America, Inc. in 1977 and since has pursued his hobby much more seriously. He has judged at all levels, including Camera Club, Council and International Salons.

From July 1 through 25 the public is invited to view the judged and accepted photographs while sipping the newest wine releases. Delicato Vineyards is located on Highway 99, four miles north of Manteca. The tasting room, where the photographs will be displayed, is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Viewing admission is free.
