Milestone birthdays beg for more than one bash.

That’s why Manteca Care and Rehabilitation Center is hosting another party for resident Luetta Denman, who celebrated her 100th birthday with cake and family on Dec. 6.

Denman will be honored during tonight’s bi-monthly candle-light dinner at the facility located on Eastwood Avenue. Manteca Care and Rehabilitation hosts these events to commemorate holidays and special events.

Denman’s landmark birthday certainly qualifies. She is one of two residents 100 years or older. The other is 101 and asked not to be identified.

“This means a lot to us. We’re happy for her,” activities director Debbie Robles said of Denman, one of the facilities true socialites.

“It’s a blessing for us that they still look good and they’re pretty alert at 100 and 101. It shows that we’re taking very good care of them.”

Denman was born in Texas on Dec. 6, 1914, the second of five children. She has two children, nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Denman enjoys crafting, karaoke, monthly birthday parties and special events with her friends, but her favorite pastime is Bingo.

“She has a family here. She’s very sociable and active,” Robles said. “She loves life right now.”

The candle-light dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the main dining room at Manteca Care and Rehabilitation Center, 410 Eastwood Avenue.
