DUI checkpoint tonight on Yosemite

A DUI checkpoint is scheduled for East Yosemite Avenue tonight which is also the night of a winter high school formal, according to Manteca Police Department spokesman Lt. Nick Obligacion.

The checkpoint will begin about 8 p.m. and last until 2 a.m. Sunday morning where officers will be checking to ensure motorists are licensed drivers and that they have not been drinking before going behind the wheel.

It is not uncommon to see cars towed when their drivers have suspended driver’s licenses or they have no license at all.  In the case of someone felt to be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs officers may also elect to have the car towed and stored at a tow lot.  Owners must later pay the tow and storage fees to get their vehicles returned to them.
