“Anything Goes” is coming to Manteca High School March 29 through April 1.

This musical is currently playing on Broadway. You could spend a large amount of money on a flight to New York to see Sutton Foster playing the famous Reno Sweeney. Or, you could spend a lot less and see Jessica Munoz playing the role at the at Manteca High’s Dorothy Mulvihill Performing Arts Theatre.

“Anything Goes” is a popular musical, with music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The story focuses on an ocean liner traveling from New York to London, and the various passengers on board. Among these are Billy Crocker, a stowaway following his true love, Hope Harcourt, an heiress. Unfortunately Hope is engaged to be married to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh who is also on board. The passengers long to be recognized as hobnobbing with celebrities, and when they find out Public Enemies are on board, they are thrilled.

Through it all, Reno Sweeney and the cast sing and dance popular numbers such as “Anything Goes,” “You’re the Top,” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.”

Manteca High’s version includes a live band and cameo by teacher Nina Horton. Other featured students are Laurence Turner as Billy Crockett, German exchange student Adii Karamehmedovic as Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, and Whitney Ayers as Hope Harcourt.
