East meets west; China meets USA.

That harmonious meeting between Manteca and Beijing students will take place this month in a joyful and entertaining convergence of voices and instrumental ensembles.

Visiting Beijing students will share the stage with choir and band members from Manteca Unified School District at two campus venues. The first one will be at the Walter Woodward Elementary on Wednesday, Jan. 15. The program will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. Woodward is located at 575 Tannehill Drive off Manteca Road.

The second venue will be the large gymnasium of Lathrop High School where the two-hour program will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. The high school is located west of Interstate 5 at 647 Spartan Way, the west end of Lathrop Road.

This will be the second time the Spartans are playing host to a group of talented performers from Beijing.

On tap for both evenings at the two campuses are choir and solo performances, folk instrument ensembles, drama performances, and dance numbers from the visiting Beijing group.

Both programs are open to the public. Admission is free.
