Students from Lathrop Elementary School will be recognized for their efforts as published writers at Tuesday’s Manteca Unified school board meeting.

The 128-page book entitled “Warriors Rock” was a project of third-grade teacher Genevieve Beltran. The youngsters involved had a chance to display their poems, stories and other forms of writing.

The book was made possible by materials donated by Friedens Publishing Company.

Students participating in the project received copies of the book.

The recognition will take place early on during 7 p.m. open session as part of Superintendent Jason Messer’s report.

The meeting will be held in the MUSD administration building, 2271 W. Louise Ave.
In other agenda items:

•The board will consider, discuss and take action on the proposed budget for the 2010-2011 school year.
