The arts will be in full force all over the campus at Manteca High School Wednesday evening, and the public is invited to enjoy all two hours of the entertainment with free admission.
Various art works from every discipline created by students in the art classes, as well as in visual arts and industrial arts, will be on display. There will be paintings, drawings, etchings, 3-dimensional art pieces, along with photographs from the students in the digital photography classes for the public to enjoy while enjoying live musical entertainment from the school band and choir.
There will be a few videos as well “looping on a computer from the Multimedia/Video Production class,” said Carol Crighton who teaches that class and digital photography.
Manteca High’s Day of the Arts is one of the harbingers of spring. It’s the Buffalo campus’s offering in spring; in the fall, the school holds the Day of the Writer. The Day of the Arts is Manteca High’s prelude to the annual Manteca Unified district-wide art show which takes place later in April.
“The purpose (of Day of the Arts) is to showcase the work done by the students in the visual and performing arts classes,” Creighton explained. “We believe the arts are an important part of education and this is an opportunity to show off what our students create.”
Wednesday night’s art display and live band and choral entertainment will be held from 5 to 7 p.m.
