Robyn Raker wants to help children suffering from alopecia areata and tinea capitis.

In each case, these diseases are common among youngsters and may affect siblings. Alopecia, for example, may be associated with itchiness with irregular hair loss along with broken hairs.

Raker, an East Union High student, is organizing a “Hope and Hair” drive on Saturday, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Fuzion Salon and Spa, 217 W. Yosemite Ave.

She also has “Locks of Love,” a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to the financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis, helping her out on this senior project.

In order to make these wigs, “Locks of Love” is requesting that those donating have hair 10 inches or more in length.

“You’ll have the opportunity to help by participating in a ‘Locks of Love’ hair drive hosted by a EUHS senior and supported by Fuzion Salon and Spa,” Raker said.
