Its back to school this week for parents

Shasta School will welcome students, family and friends to Back to School Night today from 5 to 7 o’clock.

Those attending the annual school-wide event will have a chance to enjoy a hot dog meal or visit the various booths – Boys Scouts, Manteca Unified Nutrition Services, Community Club, etc. – inside the multi-purpose building.

Several open house events are planned Wednesday at the MUSD elementary sites, including:
• Nile Garden School, kindergarten through sixth- grade classes, 7 to 8:30 p.m. (the function for the seventh- and eighth- grade classes is Thursday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.).
• Sequoia School, K-6, 6 to 7:30 p.m. (back to school night for seventh- and eighth- grade students is planned for Thursday.
• Golden West School, K-5, starting at 6:15 p.m.
• Lathrop School, K-6, starting at 6 p.m.
• Lincoln School, K-8, pizza family night, 6 p.m.
• Woodward School, K-6, barbecue hot dogs, 5 p.m. (seventh- and eighth- grade back to school is Thursday).

On Thursday, Stella Brockman School is planning a special evening. A representative from the office of Sen. Lois Wolk is scheduled to present a resolution to the staff and community for Stella Brockman receiving the prestigious state’s Distinguished School status.

The recognition ceremony is expected to take place from 6:10 to 6:20 p.m. in the court yard.

But before that, those attending can enjoy a barbecue hot dog meal from 5:30 to 6 o’clock. Proceeds will be used to defray cost for student athletic fees.

Mossdale and New Haven will also have their back to school functions that day.

The Mossdale open house is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. while the one in New Haven is planned for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Back to school at French Camp will be held on Monday, Sept. 13, starting at 5:30 p.m.
