The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites the community to attend the Crystal Apple Awards on Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m. at the Northland Chapel, 6060 Northland Ave., in Manteca.  The event will recognize and honor the outstanding educators in the various high schools in Ripon, Tracy and Manteca.

Seven recipients have been selected to receive the award this year.  Please join us in honoring:

Enayat Qayumi and John Eddy, Kimball High School;  Perry Farrens, West High School;  Will Hillier, East Union High School;  Nina Norton, Manteca High School;  Dr. Larry Grimes, Sierra High School, Gary Meyers, Ripon High School.  The nominating students will be presenting the awards to these exceptional teachers.

These recipients were nominated by the youth of the Manteca Stake, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of their excellence in teaching, and consistency in representing strong values.  The youth are juniors and seniors who attend the various high schools within the church’s Stake boundaries.   The students also participate in an early morning four year seminary program which builds character and prepares high school students for the spiritual challenges of life.  A special youth choir will be performing several musical numbers directed by Kathy Harvey, a retired teacher from the Manteca School District.
