Ripon board honors retiring employees

 They have a collective 89 years of service.
The Ripon Unified school board recognized four soon-to-be-retiring employees at last week’ss school board meeting.
Included are Jennie Thomson — the Weston Elementary School teacher leads the way with 32 years — along with Lina Ureste (21), Daniel Gilman (22) and Sandra Porter (4).
Superintendent Ziggy Robeson indicated that Porter, a special education instructor, has “only been at RUSD for a short time but is a long-time teacher,” she said.
Ureste has worked as both a bilingual aide and assistant at Weston while Dilman is a science teacher at Ripon High.
“It’s always hard to say good bye,” said Robeson, who also recognized district employees with 10, 15, 20, 25 and 35 years.
Kathleen Woodson of Park View Elementary is wrapping up her 35th year with RUSD.
Those with 25 years of service included Heidi Hawes (Weston), Theresa Morrison (Park View) and Kathryn Paredes (District Office).
Brenda Finley (Ripona), Margaret Flores (Ripon Elementary), Lisa Mora (Weston), and Susan Squaglia (Food Services) were honored for 20 years at the district.
RHS Principal Keith Rangel along with Mark Hofman (Colony Oak), Mindy Genasci (Ripon Elementary), Eric Dambrosio (Ripon Elementary), and Susan Ash (Weston) are wrapping up 15 years of service.
Those with 10 years of service consisted of Jennifer Herrema (Park View), Deborah Ramirez-Arriola, Kenneth Tyhurst (Colony Oak) and Jenna Valponi (RHS).
