Three file for Ripon Unified board seats

The filing period for candidates to get on the Nov. 6 ballot is currently in full swing.

Chad Huskey and Christopher ‘Kit’ Oase recently made their intention known that they were seeking re-election.

Both just filed with the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office in Stockton, with each vying for another four-year term on Ripon Unified school board seat.

A newcomer to the board could be Annette Vande Pol, who is listed as a candidate for the Trustee Area 2 seat currently occupied by Ernie Tyhurst – earlier he announced that he was stepping down from the board at the end of his term.

Those seeking to throw their hats in the ring – at least on the school board, which is no longer an at-large election – must reside the Trustee Area 1 (Huskey), Trustee Area 2 (Tyhurst) or Trustee Area 3 (Oase). Click on to for Trustee Area map.

Candidate filing for Ripon City Council can be conducted in the office of City Clerk Lisa Roos at City Hall, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

Mayor Michael Restuccia and Councilman Dean Uecker have expiring terms. They’ll have through Aug. 10 to again file.

Any other challenger, in order to be eligible, must be a resident of Ripon, at least 18 years old on the date of the next election, and no record of prison or on parole for a felony conviction.

The filing deadline is through Aug. 10. That filing period could be extended to Aug. 15 if one of the candidates opts not run.
