The Fashion Merchandising class is gearing up for “The Premiere Runway Show” at Lindbergh Educational Center tonight.

Students of the Manteca Unified Regional Occupational Program will serve as runway models for this fundraising event.

“I’ve encouraged them to just have fun (on the runway) and to make sure they bring their personalities to the show,” said instructor Angie Anaya. “But more importantly, I want everyone to smile.”

Most of the proceeds will go towards the upcoming field trip to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising campus.

Since not all students can make it to the annual trip to the Los Angeles area, she’s also planning one closer to home, specifically, the trendy San Jose shopping and restaurant area, Santana Row.

Featured as runway models are students from Sierra, East Union, Lathrop and Manteca high. Included are 45 girls and 13 boys.

The fashion show will take place in the auditorium of Lindbergh Educational Center, 311 E. North St.

Cost is $5 with doors opening at 6 p.m. The show is scheduled to begin at 7 o’clock.

The girls will be wearing some of the formal items showcased not too long ago at the “dress exchange.”

“They’ll be wearing dresses taken straight from their own closet,” Anaya said.

Clothes Avenue at 1255 Yosemite Ave. will also have the girls display some of their clothing line.

As for the boys, they’ll have a chance to model the tuxedoes provided by Formal Connection.

Hair and makeup will be done exclusively by those at Adrian’s Beauty College, Anaya said.

Entertainment during the intermission will be provided by the All-Time High dancers.

The ROP Culinary students will be in charge of desserts and beverages while the Careers in Law Enforcement will handle security for the evening.

Thus far, Anaya said 100 tickets have been sold for the runway fashion show, with seats still available.
