A dedication ceremony is scheduled for today at Shasta School.

The special event for the Pinto-Mello Multipurpose Room will honor two former principals, Bill Pinto and the late Rick Mello.

The facility was made possible by voter-approved Measure M money along with other funding sources.

Starting at 6 p.m., Principal Audrey Greene will welcome those in attendance at the Manteca Unified site located at 751 E. Edison St.

She’ll also introduce guests and members of the naming committee. Rosemarie Craighead, Helen Hankal-Jackson, Stephen Ruble, Cindy Rundell, and Cindy Wofford are among the latter.

The speakers include Keith Jackson and Lloyd Wofford.
Superintendent Jason Messer is scheduled to be on hand for the plaque presentation.

Providing the thanks will be sixth-grade teacher Cindy Wofford.

Construction for the Pinto-Mello Multipurpose Room – also known as the Hornets’ Nest – was completed last school year.
