The annual Happy Valentine’s Day for mentally challenged students will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the Manteca High small gym.
The special event is organized by staff member Darsi Wilson, who helps out Brad Stone’s special needs class, and takes a collaborative effort.
Last year, for example, the school’s Floriculture class made possible the corsages while the leadership class took care of the setting up and cleaning up. The student store made a donation and the cafeteria served up pizza.
Local businesses and Tim 2 DJ Service chipped in to make the Happy Valentine’s Day special for the students.
This year’s event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with venue moved from the cafeteria to the small gym.
Yet those involved are looking forward to singing, dancing, and spending time with many of the familiar faces from the class.
