Character Counts in the Manteca Unified School District.

Each semester, many of the school sites from throughout the district honor those students who embody the six traits of the Character Counts program.

This includes trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.

At Stella Brockman School, for example, six students in each of the kindergarten through sixth-grade classes received Character Counts awards Thursday at several assemblies.
They were honored for their efforts for the second trimester.
“Each of these students exemplified Character Counts to and from school and outside of the classroom,” Principal Candace Espinola said.

Meanwhile, fourth- through sixth- grade students were also recognized for their academic achievements.

These were the youngsters earning at least a 3.0 grade point average or higher.

“They also turned in all of their class work assignments and homework on time and managed good grades on their tests,” Espinola added.

All told, 208 students made the Stella Brockman second trimester honor roll, including seventh- and eighth- graders.

“Our junior high students will be honored (Friday, March 26) at an honor roll / Character Counts rally,” said Espinola.
