Family Fun & Fitness Expo this Saturday at Sierra High campus

The Manteca Children’s Foundation will be hosting a Family Fun and Fitness Expo on Saturday, May 23.

This inaugural event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at Sierra High, 1700 Thomas St. in Manteca.

“We have plenty of activities for kids,” said Marion Elliott on behalf of the foundation.

Included will be “Check Me Out,” a dental screening consisting of many health-related professionals; “Get Fit” hosted by Funtastic Gymnastics featuring a run air track; “Activity Zone” compliments of the Sparks Program; and the rigorous “Fitness & Safety” activity made possible by the Stockton Rowing Company.

A drawing will be held for a free Wii sports along with other prizes including a variety of coupons and giveaways.

Established in 2004, the Manteca Children’s Foundation has a mission to provide assistance to children of all backgrounds with the emphasis of the needy or in disadvantaged circumstances.

The foundation also awards scholarships to local students and created the Teens Helping Senior Program, with youngsters assisting the elderly around the house including yard work.

In addition, the local Children’s Foundation is among the major contributors to the annual Antone Raymus Golf Tournament, and participates in many public events including the Pumpkin Fair, Three River’s Health Fair and Powwow, and the Street Fair.
