The Ripon Farmers’ Market is returning to its old downtown roots on East Main Street just beyond the Ripon Road House starting this Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The farmers’ market in Ripon has continually been seen as a bit of Americana where members of the small community walk from their homes and congregate together in the historic community.
Dawn Silva of DePalma Farms in Escalon is in charge of the grand opening celebration set for Friday that will include a bounce house for children for the opening of the certified market and its some 20 vendors.  She said the market will feature fresh strawberries and blue berries from Jessop Farms located on Murphy Road just north of River Road where families are always invited to visit and pick their own berries.
When the berries are in season families need only to watch for the sign as they are traveling north on Murphy Road with an arrow pointing back into the property.
Silva said the market will also feature the Artesian ice cream of Gina Loretelli —  an Escalon favorite.  Shabicca olive oil is also going to be available at the market along with Lockeford Sausages prepared by Spevie Steamers.
Gemini is slated to offer his DJ skills for the evening with a different DJ scheduled for each week of the farmers’ market through July 15.
