RIPON – Forget Paris, Milan, and the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

When it comes to local styling, everything you need to know will be there on Thursday night at the Ripon High School multipurpose room as dozens of Ripon residents strut their stuff on the runway for the annual Soroptimist International of Ripon Fashion Show. It is one of the final events that lead up to the Ripon Almond Blossom Festival. Feb. 26-28.

The six Almond Queen hopefuls – Annaliese Ippolito, Megan Kuhn, Joie Darretta, Sarah Ambrose, Chantyl Vasquez, and Karena Stephens – will be the highlight of the evening as they strut down the runway modeling everything from classic staples to the newest trends.

It is one of the last chances for the six Miss Ripon hopefuls to leave a lasting impression on the judges that will make the decision on who will wear the crown and sash two weeks from Thursday when a successor is crowned at the annual Coronation Ceremony at the Ripon Community Center on Fourth Street.

Tickets for the event can be purchased for $10 in advance at Oak Valley Community Bank, the Ripon Chamber of Commerce, Tri-Valley Lending, and Kelley King Insurance Services.

Local clothiers from around Ripon have traditionally provided the outfits modeled during the event such as McHenry Village’s Ragamuffin and Kenneth’s Fine Menswear on Modesto’s Sisk Road.

Proceeds from the event will help fund the handful of local endeavors supported on an annual basis by the Ripon Soroptimists. Coffee and dessert will be served to all who attend.
