Each year, students from Manteca Unified School District with an eye on the fashion world travel to the hub of the business in Los Angeles.
They’re part of the Fashion Merchandising program – currently, the district’s Career & Education Pathways.
In order to get to LA’s Fashion District, students along with countless volunteers will put on a fashion show.
This year’s fundraising event is Saturday at Manteca High’s Winter Gym beginning at 7 p.m.
Over 100 models from all five comprehensive high school campuses including first-timer Weston Ranch will display the latest spring fashions from businesses such as Guess, Old Navy, Target, TJ Maxx and the online LuLaRoe (www.lularoe.com).
A few mini models or youngsters will take part in this ninth annual event.
“We take pride in showing what we have to offer for the whole family,” said local Old Navy General Manager Brenda Maldonado.
Two of her employees, Brianna Huerta and Emily Zak, are also part of the Fashion Merchandising class.
“We set aside the clothes for the models,” said Huerta, who is a senior at East Union and the show’s head stylist.
Zak, who also attends EU, is the co-stylist.
Cost is $5. Proceeds will make possible for Fashion Merchandising students to attend a professional showing in LA on April 6-7.
Accoring to instructor Angie Anya, students from the Sierra High Fashion Design class along with her students at MHS will have some of their fashion collections modeled during the upcoming Fashion Show.
The other CTE programs such as the Careers in Law Enforcement, Culinary Arts and Video Production will once again be on hand to support the show.
