Off-duty Manteca firefighters are passing the boot Saturday starting at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Mission Ridge Drive and South Main Street.

It's part of the Manteca Firefighters Association effort to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association as part of the 60-year-old Fill the Boot Fundraising Campaign. Proceeds benefit children and adults affected by muscle disease throughout the Manteca area.

Those unable to donate during that time but would like to help can go to http://www2.mda.org/goto/MantecaFD to support the Manteca Fire Department’s effort.

“Firefighters in the Manteca area do more for MDA and the families we serve than any other group, dedicating countless hours of their time every year to participating in Fill the Boot drives and at MDA Summer Camp,” said Heather Henderson, fundraising coordinator.
