Kayla Miller was moved by the LINK production of “Hiding.”

She recently viewed the film that exposes the struggle of North Korean refugees in their quest for freedom.

Thanks to LINK – or Liberty In North Korea – Miller, who is a Sierra High senior, will have a chance to air the documentary free of charge Monday at the Manteca Presbyterian Church located at the corner of North and Main streets.

The viewing of the film begins at 7 p.m.

The “Hiding” tour was launched on Sept. 26, with stops including colleges, high schools and places of worship.

LINK is hoping to raise awareness about the plight of North Koreans, who must travel through China while remaining in hiding. If discovered, they will be sent back to their country. Money is needed to help in their rescue.

“The money that LINK collects (cost is $2,500 to rescue one refugee) goes to traveling expenses, paper work and immediate housing,” Miller said.

By conducting such screening, LINK hopes to inspire teenagers and young adults to begin their own chapters to raise money to rescue a refugee, Miller added.

“But first it starts with the screening,” she said. “So I’m inviting friends and (others to spend) an hour and a half of their time to watch this powerful video.”
