RIPON — When the smoke of the cleared from Thursday’s North Ripon Road motor home inferno, another emergency call came over the radio involving a choking 8-month-old child who had reportedly quit breathing at a home on Murphy Road – a mile to the east.

The Lathrop-Manteca engine and its crew pulled away from the motor home fire scene and rushed to the Murphy Road location where they discovered an obstruction had lodged, but cleared from the infant’s throat.  Firefighters provided life-saving action for a subsequent cardiac arrest and then had the child transported by a second ambulance to Doctors Hospital in Manteca.
