Mayor Elden Red Nutt, left, and Councilman Dean Uecker keep track of donations for Fourth of July fireworks.

RIPON – With the City of Ripon fireworks show returning closer to downtown, members of the City Council Tuesday will consider awarding the contract for the pyrotechnics display.

They’ll likely authorize Mayor Elden ‘Red’ Nutt to sign the contract, with the cost estimated at $20,000 made possible via fundraising efforts. Half of that amount will be due at the time of the signing with other half needed by July 14.

Nutt and Councilman Dean Uecker have been part of the committee responsible for moving the fireworks show from the Mistlin Sports Park back to Stouffer Field at Ripon High.

The City of Ripon is the official lead agency in this endeavor, with the Chamber of Commerce and Ripon Unified also taking a role in the Fourth of July celebration.

Other agenda items include:

•A resolution authorizing the City Engineer Kevin Werner and Mayor Nutt to sign the necessary documents and to proceed with the 2011 Bikeway Improvement Project.

•A resolution accepting the San Joaquin County Council of Governments’ annual financial plan for 2011-2012.

•A proposal requesting the installation of a crosswalk at River Road by Mistlin Sports Park.

The open session begins at 7 p.m. at Ripon City Hall, 259 N. Wilma Ave.
