The Daffodil Days effort at Doctors Hospital of Manteca netted some $1,500 for the American Cancer Society from just 43 donors ordering flowers through the program.
Doctors’ staff members Kathy McKenzie and Debbie Aventi delivered the flowers, vases and small Teddy Bears throughout the hospital. Those items ordered over the Internet were delivered by UPS.
While Daffodil Days are over anyone wishing to make late orders of vased flowers or the Teddy Bears may still do so online by contacting Sandy Stoddard at the cancer society field office in Stockton. The address is Sandy.Stoddard@cancer.org.
The $1,500 the hospital staff collected came from just 43 individuals averaging more than $300 a piece. The Teddy Bears were a new addition this year and will be given anonymously to children in cancer pediatric wards at hospitals locally and at children’s hospitals in Oakland and Madera.
The Bear and a Bunch of Daffodils was in exchange of a $25 donation. Two bunches of flowers in a clear vase called “Vision” received donations of $35 each. One bunch in a “Sunshine” vase called a “Gift of Hope” drew donations of $20 each. A lone bouquet required a donation of $10. Obviously the 43 donors had some sizeable orders to reach the $1,500 total.
