Foster Farms donated 750 turkeys to the Second Harvest Food Bank to provide hungry families in the Northern San Joaquin Valley with a Thanksgiving meal.

There are 4,000 birds going to the needy just for Thanksgiving alone Stanislaus, San Joaquin and Merced counties from the Turlock concern.  While the average weight maxes out at nearly 28 pounds, the frozen turkeys average about 20 pounds.

Second Harvest CEO Mike Mallory said the food bank continues to be in need of more turkey donations from the public to help families in Manteca, Stockton and Modesto homes.

Some 200 birds are being set aside for the Mountain Mike’s Restaurant as it plans a no-cost Thanksgiving dinner in its dining room for those who would otherwise be without on Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with all the trimmings.  Jeff and Tevani Liotard have hosted the meal staged by Manteca service clubs for the past several years on North Main Street and Louise Avenue location.
