Spaces at the French Camp RV Park Resort along Highway 99 at French Camp Road north of Delicato Vineyards may increase roughly 50 percent.
The San Joaquin County Planning Commission when they meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. will consider the proposal. The commission meets in the auditorium of the San Joaquin County Department of Public Health Services, 1601 East Hazleton Ave., Stockton.
The plan calls for 106 more spaces to be created for a total of 302 RV spaces.
The shuttered French Camp 9-hole golf course that was devastated by the drought and a shift in how people spend their leisure time will be converted into RV spaces.
The French Camp RV Park has been proven to be popular with travelers.
When work is completed it will be the largest RV Park with direct access — and high visibility — along the Highway 99 corridor.
The move is keeping with a growing trend in the South County to not just snag dollars from the traveling public but also to secure more visitors.
The French Camp RV Park Resort has proven to be popular with people seeking multiple day stays to explore the region.
It offers amenities such as a kids’ playground, dog parks for small and large dogs, a large store with free Wi-Fi hot spot, swimming pool, fitness center hot tub and a cafe.
