A special gang seminar is being offered to church members and other Manteca families Thursday night at the Fellowship Baptist Church at 1130 Pine Street.
Manteca Police gang officer Jason Hensley is set to present a vivid picture of the gang situation in and around Manteca as well as the dangers gangs create. All the church members have been urged to bring their children so they better understand how easy it is to fall into the gang culture, Carolyn Wilson LaChaux of the church youth leadership team said.
The seminar will begin at 6:45 and last until about 8 p.m. LaChaux said. She gave an open invitation to other church communities to join the Fellowship Baptist community in its auditorium Thursday night.
“We want to bring awareness,” she said. “Awareness that it is in your back yard and touching your family life – it is somewhere close to you.”
